Motul Chain Clean cleans all types of motorcycle chains (road and off-road) and those of other vehicles (bicycle, moped, go-kart, ATV). Motul Chain Clean removes all encrusted deposits: dust, soil, sand, oil etc. It’s chlorine-free extreme grease formula is perfectly suited to O-ring, X-ring and Z-ring chains.

Cleaning a motorcycle chain using Motul Chain Clean, or any chain cleaner, is an essential part of chain maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to clean your motorcycle chain using Motul Chain Clean:

    Materials and Tools Needed:

    • Motul Chain Clean or a similar chain cleaner.
    • A chain brush or a grunge brush.
    • A rag or shop towels.
    • Safety gear (gloves and eye protection).

    Step 1: Preparation

    1. Ensure your motorcycle is parked on a stable surface and in neutral with the engine turned off.

    Step 2: Safety Precautions

    1. Put on safety gloves and eye protection to protect yourself from any splashes or contact with the cleaner.

Step 3: Application of Chain Cleaner

    1. Shake the Motul Chain Clean can well to ensure the product is properly mixed.
    2. Spray the chain cleaner directly onto the motorcycle chain, ensuring even coverage. Be careful not to overspray onto other parts of the motorcycle, as some chain cleaners can be harsh on paint and plastic parts.
    3. Allow the chain cleaner to sit for a minute or two to penetrate and dissolve grime and old lubricant.

    Step 4: Scrubbing the Chain

    1. Using a chain brush or grunge brush, scrub the chain thoroughly. Make sure to reach all parts of the chain, including the rollers and links. This will help remove stubborn dirt, grime, and old lubricant.
    2. Rotate the rear wheel slowly as you scrub to access all portions of the chain.

    Step 5: Wiping Off Residue

    1. After scrubbing, use a clean rag or shop towels to wipe off the dissolved grime and excess chain cleaner. You may need to fold the rag and slide it between the chain and sprocket to get into tight spaces.
    2. Continue rotating the rear wheel to ensure you clean the entire chain.

    Step 6: Repeat if Necessary

    1. If your chain was exceptionally dirty or hasn't been cleaned in a while, you may need to repeat the process to ensure thorough cleaning.

    Step 7: Drying

    1. After wiping off the residue, let the chain air dry for a few minutes to ensure that all the chain cleaner has evaporated.

    Step 8: Lubrication

    1. Once the chain is clean and dry, it's essential to reapply a suitable chain lubricant. Motul also offers chain lubricants that you can use for this purpose. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the lubricant you choose.

    Step 9: Test the Chain

    1. Rotate the rear wheel to distribute the lubricant evenly across the chain.
    2. Check the tension of the chain and adjust it if necessary, following your motorcycle's manufacturer's recommendations.

Regular chain maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication, is crucial for the longevity and performance of your motorcycle's chain. It's typically recommended to clean and lubricate the chain every 1000km or as needed based on riding conditions.

    Good to Know

For most products, you'll see the availability of each variant above the Buy button.

If your item is showing as backordered, this means that we do not have that variant on-hand in our store.

If you order a backordered item, we will transfer it from our warehouse or order it in from our supplier.

If the item is backordered with the supplier as well (which rarely happens) we will be in contact with an estimated restock date.

Please allow 7-10 days for your backordered item to be dispatched from our store.

If you need the item by a particular date, please understand that there are factors outside of our control that affect arrival times of backorders.

Please email us at hello@peakmotogear.com.au if you're ever unsure so that we can advise of an appropriate alternative.

At Peak Moto, we've made concerted efforts to ensure that our product images accurately represent their true colors.

Due to the inherent variability of our screens and the subjective nature of perception, we cannot guarantee that the colour you perceive on your screen perfectly matches the actual hue of the product.

In-Stock at our Retail Shops: Dispatch of any goods we have in one of our retail shops is generally within 24 hours with exceptions for public holidays.

In-Stock at our Warehouse: If your order includes an item that is at our warehouse, it may take up to 3 days to transfer it to one of our shops for dispatch.

Backordered Items: If your order includes a backordered item (ie. not in stock in either our retail shops or warehouse) and our website allows you to order the item in, we'll get back to you with an ETA on when you can expect your order.

Out of stock items: We generally turn off backorders for products that we can't guarantee ETAs on, just so that we aren't stringing you along! However, if you're really keen on an item that is out of stock (and you can't purchase - the button is greyed out) please contact us at hello@peakmotogear.com.au and we can make special exceptions on some products.

You may have noticed that some products have to be ordered into our retail shop before dispatch.

We're a small business with a tiny operations team, and limited warehouse space. Sometimes people assume we're a mega superstore, but trust us - Peak Moto is indeed a compact team of your fellow riders who are doing our best!

While we try our best to maintain great depth in our most popular items, it makes business sense to be strategic about what we actively keep in stock.

So, rather than have a sparse sprinkling of everything possible, we choose the products that people most likely purchase, and have these ready to go.

The result is that you're less likely to wait for your items, and we're less likely to sit on products that move slowly. We'll have better cashflow in order to run our business smoothly.

We're happy to have a chat with you to recommend a size before you buy. Contact us or refer to the size charts and fitment advice carefully.

We are a retailer and reseller of gear - we do not design or manufacture our own gear. We do not create the size charts, the manufacturers do.
