Exchanges, refunds and returns · 30-day policy
Doesn't fit? We'll sort it out.
You have 30 days to exchange or return. Exchanges are free from our end and store credit comes back to you in full - so if the size is not right, say the word and we will get you into gear that is.
The short version
Our returns policy in four numbers
The ACCC does not require any business to take back a change-of-mind return. We do it anyway, because buying riding gear online is genuinely hard to get right first time. Here is the whole policy before the fine print.
From the date of purchase, on anything that comes back to us new and unworn.
Refund to store credit and you keep the full amount, with a 3 year expiry.
Only on change-of-mind refunds back to your original payment method.
On every product, against defects, from the date you receive it.
A quick word on the restocking fee, because we would rather explain it than have you find it at checkout. We do not profit from it. It softens the real cost of a return: the card and gateway fees we have already paid, the postage out, the sizing and fitting advice, and the admin time to inspect an item and put it back on the rack. It also discourages the small handful of exploitative returns - gear worn for a ride day, try-at-home wardrobing, serial returners - that would otherwise be paid for by every other rider in our community. Choose store credit and there is no fee at all.
Two ways to get your money back
Store credit, or back to your card
Both options are open on any eligible change-of-mind return. The difference is the 5% restocking fee, which only applies when the money goes back through the payment gateway that charged us to take it in the first place.
Option 1
Refund as store credit
No fee
You keep 100% of what you paid
- The full amount comes back to you, nothing deducted
- Valid for 3 years - no rush to spend it
- Use it on anything in store or online, including sale gear
- Issued as store credit or a gift card, your choice
On a $400 return you get $400 to spend.
Option 2
Refund to original payment
5% fee
Deducted from the refund
- Money returns to the card or account you paid with
- Processed once the item has been received and inspected
- Covers gateway fees, handling, inspection and restocking
- Afterpay orders have their payment plan updated by Afterpay
On a $400 return you get $380 back.
No restocking fee ever applies to a faulty item, an incorrect item sent, or anything covered by the consumer guarantees.
Where the 5% actually goes
Payment processing and transaction fees. Shipping and handling costs where applicable. Staff time to receive, inspect and reprocess the item. And the capital tied up in stock, since a returned garment goes back into inventory rather than out the door.
Under Australian Consumer Law a refund is not automatically required for a change of mind or an incorrect selection at all. We accept those returns because we would rather you rode in gear that fits - the fee is what makes that sustainable for a small specialist shop that also gives away fitting advice for free.
Three steps
How a return or exchange works
Every return starts in the Returns & Exchanges Centre. Please do not post anything back before you have lodged a request - parcels that arrive without one cannot be matched to an order or processed.
Lodge the request
Head to the Returns & Exchanges Centre, find your order and follow the steps. Swapping for a different product entirely? That one cannot go through the centre - contact us and we will set it up by hand.
Send it back to us
Pack the item with every tag, bag and piece of packaging it arrived in, armour still installed. Return postage is on you; we do not charge to send a first exchange back out. A second exchange may attract a shipping fee at our discretion.
We inspect and process
Every returned item is inspected before an exchange or refund is approved. Exchanges ship out to you free. Refunds go back as store credit in full, or to your original payment method less the 5% restocking fee.
Price difference on an exchange?
Straightforward either way. If the replacement costs less than the item you sent back, we refund you the difference. If it costs more, you pay the difference. No fee on either.
Before you lodge
What we can and cannot accept
The rule underneath all of this is simple: we have to be able to sell the item to the next rider as new. Try your gear on indoors the day it arrives, and if anything is not right, tell us before you ride in it.
- It is brand new - unused, unspoilt, never ridden in
- Tags are still attached and the armour is still installed
- All original packaging comes back undamaged - boxes, plastic bags, drawstring bags, the lot
- It is within 30 days of purchase
- You lodged the request first through the Returns & Exchanges Centre
- Anything marked "CLEARANCE" or "FINAL SALE" in the title - final sale, no exceptions
- All helmets
- Consumables - oils, cleaners and the like
- Opened or used packaged items - neck warmers, socks and similar
- Special orders - anything we do not normally stock and brought in for you
- Gift cards
- Gear that has been ridden in, even once around the block
Please do not ask us to bend these rules. They are not there to catch you out - they are there so we can keep doing right by every rider in the community, including the one who buys that jacket next.
The better option
The best return is the one you never have to make
Peak Moto is a small business and we care deeply about getting riders into the right gear the first time. Before you buy, talk to us. We are genuinely happy to recommend a size - send through full-body photos if that helps us read your shape, or book an online fit consultation for live, personalised sizing advice with a human who fits this gear for a living.
Read the size charts and the fitment notes on the product page carefully too, because some pieces are deliberately tighter fitting. And please do not order multiple sizes to try at home - it carries a real cost for everyone involved, and a five-minute conversation usually gets you there faster.
Not sure of your size? Ask before you buy.
A free fit consultation takes minutes and saves you the postage, the wait and the restocking fee entirely.
Straight answers
The full policy, question by question
Everything above in detail. If your situation is not covered here, get in touch - we read every message ourselves.
Exchanges
Can I exchange my item for a different size or colour?
Yes. Swapping size or colour is the most common thing we do. Head to the Returns & Exchanges Centre and follow the steps to request an exchange.
You are responsible for the cost of getting the item back to us, but we cover the shipping cost of sending your first exchange out to you.
Exceptions. These items cannot be exchanged or returned under any circumstances - please don't ask us to bend the rules, we are trying to do right by all riders in our community:
- Any item marked "CLEARANCE" or "FINAL SALE" in the title
- All helmets
- All consumable products (oils, cleaners and similar)
- Any packaged item (neck warmers, socks and the like) that has been opened, used, or has missing packaging
- Special orders - items we do not normally hold in stock but brought in for you
Can I exchange my item for a different product entirely?
Absolutely - it just cannot be done through the Returns & Exchanges Centre, so contact us and we will arrange it manually.
The same terms apply: you cover the cost of returning the item, and we cover the shipping on the first exchange out to you. The exclusions listed above still stand.
What if I'm not sure of sizing?
Then talk to us before you buy - that is exactly what we are here for. Peak Moto is a small business and we care deeply about our customers.
We're happy to have a chat and recommend a size. Contact us, or read the size charts and fitment advice on the product page carefully. You are welcome to send through full-body photos to help us determine your body shape, or book an online Fit Consultation for personalised live sizing advice.
Please avoid buying multiple sizes just to try them on - it carries significant costs for everyone involved, and a quick conversation usually gets you a better answer anyway.
What if there's a price difference?
Simple either way. If the item you are exchanging cost more than the one you are receiving, we refund you the difference. If you are exchanging for something dearer, you pay the difference.
What condition does the item have to be in to exchange?
We know buying online can be hit and miss with sizes and fit, and that occasionally there is a fault with a product, so we are more than happy to exchange any garment that does not fit - as long as it meets the following:
- New condition: unused, tags still attached, armour still installed, with original packaging.
- All packaging returned exactly as it was sent to you - tags, plastic bags, drawstring bags where applicable.
- You have read the size guide and fitting instructions, as some products (Lara Cargos, for example) tend to fit smaller.
Please try your purchase on as soon as it arrives. If there are any issues, contact us immediately to arrange an exchange. If it does not fit, do not keep wearing it - we cannot accept goods that have been used, even for a short ride around the block.
Every returned item is inspected before we approve an exchange or return. The buyer covers the cost of sending items back to us, and we do not charge for the first shipment out to you. If you need a second exchange, we may charge an additional shipping fee at our discretion.
Can I exchange clearance or final sale items?
No. Everything marked "CLEARANCE" or "FINAL SALE" is exactly that - final. No exchanges or returns are accepted on these items under any circumstances, including:
- Older styles of existing products
- Discontinued styles, colours or sizes
- Brands we are no longer stocking
- Incorrect choice
- Size or colour discrepancies
- Any other reason, where "CLEARANCE" or "FINAL SALE" appears in the title
Clearance items are priced down to move stock and make way for new collections, and that discounted price accounts for the risk of an imperfect fit. By buying a clearance or final sale item you explicitly accept that risk and agree to these terms. We appreciate your understanding, and we ask that you respect these guidelines without requesting exceptions.
Returns & refunds
I want to return an item. How do I do this?
Go to our Returns & Exchanges Centre and follow the steps to request a return. You can exchange or return an item within 30 days of purchase.
Try your purchase on as soon as it arrives. If it does not fit, do not keep wearing it - we cannot accept returned goods that have been used.
Bear in mind that it costs us fees to take payment by credit card, PayPal or a similar gateway, and it costs us time and postage to send the item out to you in the first place. There are also real costs in managing a returned item.
Refunding to your original payment method attracts a small 5% restocking fee to cover those expenses. There is no fee for refunding to store credit - you get the entire amount to use next time, with a 3 year expiry.
To be eligible for a return or exchange, your item must meet the following conditions:
- Condition: brand new, unused, unspoilt, with tags still attached and armour installed.
- Packaging: returned undamaged with all original packaging and tags, in resalable condition.
All returned items are inspected before any exchange or return is processed, and the buyer is responsible for return postage costs.
Important: do not send items back without first requesting a return. Items sent without prior authorisation cannot be processed or attributed to an order.
Exceptions. These items cannot be exchanged or returned under any circumstances: anything marked "CLEARANCE" or "FINAL SALE" in the title, all helmets, all consumable products (oils, cleaners and similar), any item that has been opened, used or has missing packaging, and special orders.
What condition does the product have to be in to return?
To be eligible for a return, your item must meet these conditions:
- Condition: brand new, unused, unspoilt, with tags still attached and armour installed.
- Packaging: returned undamaged with all original packaging and tags, in resalable condition.
All returned items are inspected before any exchange or return is processed. The buyer is responsible for return postage costs.
Important: do not send items back without first requesting a return. Items sent without prior authorisation cannot be processed or attributed to an order.
What about change of mind?
According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), consumers are not entitled to a repair, replacement or refund under the consumer guarantees if they simply changed their mind, found the product cheaper somewhere else, or decided they did not like the purchase or had no use for it; if the problem was caused by misuse; if they knew of the problem before buying; if they asked for a service to be done a certain way against the business's advice; or if the problem was caused by someone other than the business. Where a business does have a change-of-mind policy, however, it must follow it.
We do take back change-of-mind purchases, and the same terms apply as any other return: 30 days, new and unworn with tags and armour intact, request lodged through the Returns & Exchanges Centre first. Refunds to store credit carry no fee and last 3 years; refunds to your original payment method attract the 5% restocking fee.
How will my refund be processed?
We process the refund back to the same payment method you used to buy the item, less the restocking fee. Choose store credit instead and there is no fee at all.
What is the 5% restocking fee?
A restocking fee applies when an item comes back because of a change of mind or an incorrect choice. It covers the real costs of inspecting, processing and returning an item to saleable condition.
Under Australian Consumer Law, refunds are not automatically required for change-of-mind purchases or incorrect selections at all. We aim to balance customer satisfaction with the practical costs of running a specialist retail business, so we do accept those returns - on the terms below.
Our restocking fee policy
- A small 5% restocking fee applies to change-of-mind returns refunded to the original payment method
- No restocking fee applies when a refund is issued as store credit or a gift card
- No fees apply to faulty items, incorrect items sent, or items covered under the consumer guarantees
What the fee covers
- Payment processing and transaction fees
- Shipping and handling costs, where applicable
- Staff time to receive, inspect and reprocess returned items
- Capital tied up in inventory, as returned items generally go back into stock
It also helps discourage misuse of our returns system, which is what lets us keep offering personalised fitting advice and high service standards. Thankfully most customers love their gear and rarely need to return anything.
Consumer law note. An item bought in the wrong size, or with a fit you are not thrilled with, does not automatically make it unsafe or faulty under Australian Consumer Law. For full details we encourage you to review the ACCC's guidance on consumer guarantees.
Can I return a clearance item?
No. All items marked "CLEARANCE" or "FINAL SALE" are final sale, and no exchanges or refunds are accepted for them under any circumstances. That includes older styles of existing products, discontinued styles, colours or sizes, brands we are no longer stocking, incorrect choice, size or colour discrepancies, and any other reason.
Clearance items are offered at reduced prices to turn over inventory and make way for new collections, and the discounted price accounts for the potential risk of an imperfect fit. By purchasing one you explicitly accept that risk and agree to these terms. We appreciate your understanding, and we ask that you respect these guidelines without requesting exceptions.
I've only worn my item for one ride. Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately not. Refunds and exchanges are not provided for items that have been used, even for a single ride, because they cannot be resold as new.
Try your gear on indoors as soon as it arrives, and make sure you are happy and comfortable before you ride in it. Once the gear goes out on a ride we take that as confirmation you are happy with the purchase. We always welcome feedback on how it performed - but at that point the item can no longer be exchanged or returned.
Can I cancel an order that hasn't been sent yet?
If your order has not shipped and your circumstances have changed, we can usually cancel it and process a refund. Do note that payment processing fees for credit cards, PayPal and similar gateways are incurred whether or not the order is dispatched, and there may be costs on our side in ordering the item in and then holding the stock. For change-of-mind cancellations the same small 5% restocking fee applies to cover those processing costs.
Special orders cannot be cancelled. These are items we do not typically stock and have sourced specifically for you, including custom styles, sizes or colours. They are treated as clearance items and are non-returnable, because they cannot easily be resold or sent back to the supplier.
Can you make an exception this once?
We introduced the restocking fee to protect against the small number of people who took advantage of our previous return policy. We truly appreciate our loyal customers, and it was misuse - not you - that prompted the change. We believe in treating every customer fairly, and we are committed to that.
So while we cannot make exceptions to the restocking fee itself, we do look at every request on a case-by-case basis. Thank you for understanding.
Afterpay
Do you offer Afterpay?
Yes, on orders over $500 AUD. If you are able to pay by credit card it helps us out a lot - Afterpay fees for merchants run around five times higher than regular card fees and add up quickly for a small business like ours. Either way, we are just grateful you are shopping with us.
How does Afterpay work?
Choose Afterpay at checkout and you will be redirected to their secure portal to complete your purchase. You pay the first instalment today and the rest every two weeks.
Is there a fee for using Afterpay?
There are no interest charges or fees if you pay on time. Afterpay may charge late fees if a payment is missed. All payment terms are managed directly by Afterpay - we do not manage any part of an Afterpay payment.
There are fees for merchants to receive Afterpay orders, so paying by credit card or cash instead helps small businesses like ours tremendously.
Can I use Afterpay on sale items or discounted orders?
Yes. Afterpay works on all eligible purchases, including sale items, unless otherwise stated. The total value of your order must be at least $500 AUD.
Is there a minimum or maximum spend for Afterpay?
You can use Afterpay on orders between $500 and $4,000. Limits may vary based on your own Afterpay account.
We keep a minimum spend because the surcharge to us as merchants makes it unsustainable to offer Afterpay on orders under $500.
Can I return items I bought using Afterpay?
Yes - our normal returns policy still applies, exactly as set out above. Once we process your return, Afterpay updates your payment plan and refunds any payments you have already made.
Why do you prefer credit card payments over Afterpay?
Afterpay is a great service and we are glad to offer it. It just comes with higher fees on our end. Paying by credit card or cash lets us put more back into great products, customer support and keeping our prices fair. Every bit counts.
Who can I contact if I have an issue with my Afterpay payment?
For any payment issues, please contact Afterpay directly through their app or website. We are happy to help with anything product or order related.
Warranty
What is your warranty policy?
All products are covered by a standard 12-month manufacturer's warranty against defects, from the date you receive them.
- Proof of purchase: keep your tracking information from Australia Post. If it is not available, we will use the order date to verify the warranty period.
- Coverage: the warranty covers defects from manufacturing faults that directly affect the integrity or safety of the product, such as torn seams or broken zippers. It does not cover wear and tear, misuse, overuse, or minor issues that do not affect product safety.
- Decision authority: warranty claims are determined solely by Peak Moto, the manufacturer or the supplier, and are not influenced by customer preference.
- Repairs and replacements: for genuine warranty issues we will offer a replacement. If repair is cheaper and feasible locally we may consider covering those costs at our discretion. Refunds for warranty issues are not provided except in exceptional cases.
By purchasing, you agree to these terms and conditions.
What if my item is faulty?
We will replace an item if it has a major problem. A major problem means the item has a defect that would have stopped a reasonable person buying it had they known; the item is unsafe to use; or the item does not perform as advertised and cannot easily be repaired.
Alternatively you may choose to keep the item and receive compensation for any reduction in its value. We may also cover the cost of repairs and supply the necessary parts, at our discretion.
For items with warranty issues we arrange a replacement. Refunds are not provided for warranty issues except in exceptional circumstances. By purchasing, you accept these terms and conditions.
What if I have an accident in gear I bought from Peak Moto?
Liability disclaimer. While we strive to provide high-quality products, Peak Moto is not liable for any accidents or injuries that may occur while using our products. By wearing our products you acknowledge that you are satisfied with their condition and quality.
Motorcycle protective equipment cannot guarantee absolute safety, because of the number of variables involved - the nature of the accident, impact force, abrasion duration and other external factors. The performance of any product in an accident may be influenced by these factors.
Policy last updated: 30 August 2026. These terms apply to purchases made from Peak Moto and sit alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which nothing on this page limits or replaces. Source for consumer guarantee information: accc.gov.au.
Still not sure where you stand?
